Or, like me, they’re a bit OCD.

Now I would need to know: a) what is a report card?, and b) what means “OCD”?

I clean my room without being asked just because I hate the mess. Makes me feel like I can’t think.

I usually got comments like “He could be doing much better.” To which I would respond: “If you already know I can do it, what do I have left to prove?”

“Show me a kid who picks up his room without being asked…”

… and I’ll show you a kid who misplaced the tiny USB flash-drive containing all of his latest Playstation 5 game saves. ;-)

I would fake my report card. I found a blank one at school, doctored it to show I was getting mostly Bs. My parents never found out,

One middle school student erased her grade so poorly that she wore a hole in the card. Parents eventually came to me to ask why. Once I related how I thought that ‘might’ have happened, then showed them what grade she was trying to avoid, the look they gave the child almost turned her hair white.

But the year turned out better than we thought. Her effort and her work improved a little bit at a time until she finished the year in the middle of the grade range. Doesn’t always work out that way.

When I was in elementary school (paper report cards), the nuns required that every report card be signed by a parent before it was returned. I never heard of one that wasn’t. To top that off, our report cards were distributed (in class, publicly) by the parish priest. He knew all our parents and all of us. Every so often one would hear “Tch, tch. You know you can do better than this.”

When I was in a public elementary school, I had to have my report card signed by a parent. When I was in 5th and 6th grade, my dad was the principal of the school I attended and he knew before I did what my report card showed. This was also long enough ago that we were given grades in deportment and hygiene, getting along with others, etc.

I’ll show you a kid that gets straight A’s.

I know all three of our school age granddaughters are straight A students and have always been extremely proud and anxious to bring home their report cards. The oldest granddaughter graduated from college/nursing school this last weekend with a masters in nursing, Summa C#m Laude, wearing enough braids to make a climbing rope as well as a half dozen+ medals and pins. The other two are in intermediate and middle school at this point so all they get is a grade card to show for their work.

p.s. the stupidity of the Go Comics censor is astounding when it bans titles of excellent achievement.

    And I’ll show you a Stepford Kid…

And I’ll show you a kid who plans on bringing a “Homework Companion” over tonight…

And I’ll show you a kid who plans “A Big Ask” later…

I hid my 8th grade final report card because I knew if Mom read it I wouldn’t get to play my first year of football if she got it in time.
