I still get the morning paper, though is is pitiful nowadays. The Sudoku and comics are mostly what I look for now. Reading the paper on my tablet with my breakfast is more up-to-date and complete but not very satisfying somehow.
Still get a daily paper and yes the puzzles are great :-) The paper itself always gets used for something . At the very least Rolled into paper logs for the wood burner ;-)
Our local newspaper got too expensive for what you got, lack of home delivery which made the late news even later. Even the digital version is over priced.
I worked monday through thursday. My local paper was once a week, on Fridays. I’d pick it up and walk to my favorite diner for breakfast, 27 cups of coffee, and do the puzzles. The very attractive blonde waitress was certainly a part of my day. Now the paper is online only, the blonde went somewhere else, and I’m limited to one cup.
Back when my wife and I were ‘paper carriers’, felt like the ‘paper’ went ‘overboard’ with the OLD adage’- ‘the customer is always right’ to the point where the carrier is ALWAYS wrong and guilty regardless of circumstances ! ! ! !
I use my Sunday paper for puzzles, and I’ve tried online puzzles, but hate it when they apply a timer to them and expect me to want to compete with others or establish an ongoing list of my times. Just forget all this stuff and give me all the time I need to finish a puzzle.
My local paper was bought by a leftist organization called Lee Enterprise. The first thing they did was quaduple the price (>$100/month). Then they started getting the “news” from other businesses/papers they owned, rather than locally. Then the erratic delivery others here mention, started. I tried to stick-it-out for a short while but it got to be too much. I went to their digital only version (holding my nose at most of their so-called journalism from places like California) but even now it costs most than the print version used to cost 2-years ago!

I subscribe to the NEW YORK TIMES crossword puzzle, the only part of that paper worth paying good money for!

Would have kept buying, but erratic delivery brought it to an end.

I get the e-edition. Can’t do the crosswords without printing them out. Not worth it. I do like the comics, though.

they did away with the daily paper here when someone from the other side of the state bought it. I think it is mailed 2 or 3 times a week now.

I’d love to be able to afford the newspaper again.

It’s somewhat the same as reading a print copy of a magazine or book. It somehow just feels right. :)

Everything shrunk on our local paper except the number of ads per page and the cost.

There is a sufficient supply of both online. Cheaper than a newspaper subscription. And sometimes for free.
