My response to that question, I was thinking the sinking of the SS Andrea Doria, an Italian passenger liner that sank on July 25–26, 1956. I was four years old.

The death of King George VI, Feb. 6, 1952. I was 6 and a half, and remember marching around the house shouting: “The King is dead; long live the Queen.” Surprisingly, she did … live long!

For me I would have to say the Eruption of Mount St Helen. I built a blanket fort behind the sofa to protect me from the explosion, even thought we were Ontario,

Saying you remember 9/11/2001 isn’t the same as having an actual ID card to buy liquor.

[the sad thing is I remember hearing that joke with the Kennedy assassination. The first one.]

I remember hearing about the JFK assassination. My older sister was quite upset and I remember wondering why it was such a big deal.

I remember going to a parade and getting my own little flag to wave, when they changed the flag from 48 stars to 50

That occurred in my lifetime, the first hydrogen bomb explosion with some people claiming it would set the air on fire and extinguish all life. Although I do remember bombed out buildings and sticking my fingers in bullet holes in the walls from WWII.
