My dachshund and I walk a nature trail that is for walkers, runners, and bicyclists. The rule for bicyclists is to say āOn Your Leftā when passing someone, walker, jogger, or another bicyclists on the left as a courtesy. This way you know they are coming up behind you and they donāt startle you or that you donāt turn around in front of them. Unfortunately, only .0001 let you know. The others zip right past like they own the trail. Iām always worried about my dog venturing over into their path and either will get hit or killed or the bicyclists will go flying off his bike and get badly injured. I donāt think they think that will happen to them but there is always a first!!!
At 72 Iām not biking as fast as I used toāarthritis in the hip joints, donātchanoāso Iām hugging the right. But that puts me in perfect position to get ādooredā by people who get out of parked cars without looking.
at the old olympics park where i used to bike in tokyo theyāve cleverly put the footpath/jogging lane immediately adjacent to the biking lane, meaning that bikers have to weave around clueless young moms pushing prams in the bike laneā¦ āŗ

Naw, usually theyāre on low-riding three-wheelers with orange flags mounted. The Priuses of the biking world.
