46 years ago, I received credit (at nearly the last possible moment) for the only incomplete I received in my time as an Ivy undergrad. Iâd gone through a lot to get there, but I was done!
I had prepared a two-hour reel-to-reel tape looping âSchoolâs Outâ (the original) ⊠I headed home, grabbed a six-pack, started the tape, and went to the front porch of the student co-op where I lived.
It was a beautiful day, and we had speakers wired on the porch. I wasnât the only one celebrating. Congratulations to all of this yearâs grads!
âSomeone ordered the London Symphony Orchestra! Possibly while high! Cypress Hill, Iâm looking in your direction!â Anyone else remember this Simpsons episode? I understand they actually performed together recently.

Golden Oldies time.
Alice had a song âDepartment of Youthâ about rotten, rebellious kids.
At the end of the song, the chorus of young voices calls out for a leader to guide them on their mission of wanton destruction.
Donny Osmond?!?

The London Symphony Orchestra did do versions of Jethro Tull, and Ian Anderson has performed with orchestras.

Creepy little garbanzo bean. He should play Pomp and Circumstance.

Jarvis is probably more familiar with âItâs the Little Thingsâ. âș
âȘâ« "Itâs the little things.
Itâs just the little things.
Aw, itâs the little things.
Itâs just the little things.
Yeah itâs the little things,
that drive me wildâŠ" âȘâ«

The music for the opening riff for Schoolâs Out is engraved on Glen Buxtonâs tombstone.

I was a freshman in college just turning 18 that fall when Alice Cooperâs âIâm Eighteenâ was getting heavy radio air play, and I liked it.
