6 year old daughter heard her mother (x mrs) talking about needing money to pay bills and other necessities. She looked at us and asked “Why don’t you just go to the ATM and get it?” It was then that I explained that the ATM only gave you back the cash you put into it for safe keeping. Once you used all yours, you didn’t get any more til you put more into it.

Used to tell ours to go in back yard and get cash off the money tree.

When I asked my mom for something that was a little expensive, she would tell me," You will see when you have a job and get paid. You will pay yoyr bills, grocery shop, buy gas for your car, and then try to budget what you have left to last until your next paycheck. My dad gave her money when he git paid every Friday for all the household expenses, and after everything was taken care of, there were weeks we may have had .50 left fir the week, but we never went hungry.
