Don’t you just hate it when you finally think that certain bad memory is done with but something just happens and brings it back in front of your eyes? Yeah… been there for 20 years

..if you didn’t have to be there on your scheduled days, it wouldn’t be called ‘work’..

Brings me back. Years ago I worked for Walmart. I was finishing my PhD but had run out of funding so I got a job for a bit. When I started, I told them that I was getting married on a certain date and that I could not work on that day nor the two after. They agreed. When the schedule came out they had me working on my wedding night. When I told my boss about this she told me “You said you are getting married in the afternoon and I did not schedule you until evening”. When I told her I could not work, she said then I had to get someone to replace me. A few days later I got an offer for a postdoc starting 1 month after my wedding. I went in on a Saturday night and told them I was quitting. My boss said “after your shift?” and I said “Now. I am not working here anymore at all.”. Wrote a quick resignation note and walked out. If they had treated me better I would have given them the two weeks but scheduling me on my wedding day when they knew it was that day was just more than I could take.
