I was curious about the “since 1892” on the truck and found the following in Wikipedia:
“The Little Bears is an American comic strip created by Jimmy Swinnerton, one of the first American comic strips featuring talking animals and one of the first with recurring characters…”
He seems to have started drawing it in 1892 and it began appearing in the San Francisco Examiner the following year.
I have no idea how far in the past the first anthropomorphic story is, but it predates writing and probably drawing. “There once was a giant sloth named Nkrzo who knew a dire wolf named Leon…”
