Back in the day, I let my kids order their school outfits from the JCPenney catalog so they could try everything on at home. What didn’t fit or work I returned to the store.
Let her do that then! When my daughter was a teen working at McD’s they made her scrub the grout on the floor with a toothbrush, getting off work at 1 am on a school night (still in HS). I complainted to the mgt about it being so late. She worked there another year until a 16 year old mgr. slapped her (different branch) and she quit. I told her I would have owned the place! She’s been in business for herself since. Works hard but loves it. And never been out of work. She’s 42+ now.
I never took my kids clothes shopping just because it was a new school year. I bought them new clothes when they needed them, or outgrew their shoes. In FL you can wear your summer clothes most of the year.
Hm. I was going to ask my child if I could go with her and her child for back-to-school shopping. I thought it would be fun. I have some happy memories for that chore.

There are other ways to help that wouldn’t include physical pain. Stick to your guns, Gram!

I’d take the cleaned bathroom floor. The Q-tip is up to you, I won’t judge.

Maybe Grandma is starting to mellow a bit. But I’m guessing it will be a good long while before she “finds herself”.
