    My first pet as a child was a beagle pup. We used to have such fun ā€“ heā€™d grab onto my jeans (close to shoe) and Iā€™d tug and heā€™d tug.

    Good childhood memory. Pets donā€™t live long enough. He died of what the veterinarian said was cirrhosis of the liver ā€“ although he didnā€™t have a drinking problem, or if he did, he hid it very well.

    Cirrhosis of the liver has various causes, according to Wikipedia.

    Pedro did get a lot of table scraps, which may have contributed to ā€˜non-alcoholic fatty liver diseaseā€™ ā€“ one of the causes of cirrhosis of the liver.
