    My first pet as a child was a beagle pup. We used to have such fun – he’d grab onto my jeans (close to shoe) and I’d tug and he’d tug.

    Good childhood memory. Pets don’t live long enough. He died of what the veterinarian said was cirrhosis of the liver – although he didn’t have a drinking problem, or if he did, he hid it very well.

    Cirrhosis of the liver has various causes, according to Wikipedia.

    Pedro did get a lot of table scraps, which may have contributed to ‘non-alcoholic fatty liver disease’ – one of the causes of cirrhosis of the liver.
