Apparently this is depicting a rape attempt. Is that something I am supposed to think can be turned into a joke? I am not against depicting rape in art/drama when treated for what it is, but for a joke?
Yes, it’s art, and a notable technical achievement. But its subject matter is reprehensible, and to treat is as a joke is inexcusable, especially in light of the very recent violent death of a 12 year old Texas girl at the hands of two men.
Good news, folks! In the ensuing battle of the brutes for the body of the maiden, she escaped … leaving her would-be ravishers bruised, bothered, and bewildered.

I have added a comment there pointing to the blog entry with my comment pointing to info about this artist I used to point to here. So far, 2 works by him have been used here, the June 21, 2024, strip being the prior.
The word “rape” originally meant to take by force and did not necessarily have the sexual context it has today. The definitions that have become secondary and tertiary nowadays had been the primary and secondary ones until the early 20th century:“2: an outrageous violation
3: an act or instance of robbing or despoiling or carrying away a person by force”
An example would be The Rape of the Lock – a burlesque narrative poem written by satirist Alexander Pope circa 1712.

/// Here Paul Jamin has painted A Rape
in the Stone Age. She strives to escape
while two Primitives fight
over who has the right
to molest her. (They’re still mostly ape.)

Neither guy’s gonna wait til they’re wed !/
The lady’s perturbed:/
These brutes must be curbed.
Evidently all chivalry’s dead.
