our flying squirrels have returned after a 6 month absence. my wife is very happy, I’m in bed before they come out but I’ll see them when it starts getting dark earlier this fall. I get the fun of watching the brown thrashers in the early morning.
I don’t think kids—or anyone under the age of 45, for that matter—refers to their parents as their folks. Seems to be a generational thing. Could be a regional thing, too, though.
