Back in the sixties a friend was picking me and two other girls up for an excursion in her VW beetle. She took the corner too shallowly and bounced off of the curb and flattened her tire. So we four girls (yeah, 4 girls in a VW beetle—tight, but it was a short trip), jacked up the car and replaced the tire. All OK so far, but then we couldn’t get the jack to lower … so we four girls lifted that little car off of the jack and back down to the pavement, packed up our tools, and drove off in our clown-car wannabe!
I had a ‘72 bug that had a malfunctioning muffler system, unbeknownst to be before I started on a 40-mile jaunt. After about 10 miles, I had to pull over to the side of the road to take a quick nap. Five or so miles, another nap. Despite the fact it was an extremely cold day, I rolled down my window, turned around, and drove home. I was “exhausted.”
In my lifetime I have owned over 30 beetles. Various model years between 1957 and 1974. At one point between my neighbor and I we had 12 parked in our parent’s yards.

Drivebelt? I thought VW beetles had a standard shift gear transmission. [The only way to get it to move with 36 horsepower.]
