I never cared for open caskets or “viewings”. I mean, they never look like the person actually looked yet people always say stuff like, “She looks so natural.” Why do we do it? Do we not trust that they’re really dead? Gotta make sure they’re really in the box?
no truer words were ever spoken - the first open casket I ever saw was a 1st-grade fellow student. My dad took me as she and I were friends and I couldn’t understand what happened to make her dead. when I saw her lying there I simply said to my dad – “that’s not her” he knew what I meant and we had a long conversation about when someone dies. not really what you would call “funny” but I have performed several funerals over the years for various people of various backgrounds and faiths. the few that were “open casket” just “didn’t look like them” because they looked “pretty darn dead”. life is precious IF we know how to truly live it right. js

That mortician does a good job. They usually stay dead when he works on them.

If they tell me he’s dead, I believe ‘em. Nobody’s ever shown up a few weeks later and said, “I can’t believe that you didn’t come looking for me!”

For the few I’ve seen, they always look like they’ve had way too many Botox procedures …!
