I’ve received many rebates, class action awards, etc. for small sums that had to cost more to process that the value. On an hourly basis of my time applying for them it’s maybe 50 cents an hour.
He could send them a letter explaining that he would be sending them their 13 cents as requested, but he’s using a 73 cent stamp, so they owe him 60 cents again…
Better hurry. If you wait a week, taxes with penalties will be $500 dollars. I wonder with the tremendous increase in IS agents if they will start with the Senate and House. They know those dudes are hiding all sorts of income.
The IRS used to have a rule that if you owed less than $1 you didn’t have to pay (you still had to file though). If they owed you less than $1, you had to specifically request it to be mailed to you (this was pre-direct deposit).
But with direct deposit these days, there’s no need for the postage at all.

Gosh! I actually remember when postage was three cents. Now I can’t ever find a “cent” key on my computer.

Mail it to them and tell them they owe you another 60 cents. See how long it can go on for,. :)
