My fourth grade teacher would have made that into a lesson.

Perhaps it is because I am an ex-teacher, but Caulfield is less likeable every time he appears. I loved to have students who engaged in classes, even disrupted them, but with questions or actions related to the class itself. If the student is encouraged to think of class as a contest between the teacher and them, chaos ensues. Most importantly, the ones who need the class suffer.

Not everyone has an appreciation for swamp slime or pond scum.

I’d say that might not be appreciated, but Mrs. Olsen might use it for a science lesson or two.

While it’s Mrs. Olsen’s job to introduce tasks, chores, and homework for her students to learn from, Caulfield’s ideas are to introduce angst and annoyance to Mrs. Olsen. Two entirely different goals,

The stone Caulfield is skipping jumps from one panel to the next! For a second I thought there was something on my screen.

Caufield is the kind of kid every teacher hates. They throw a party in June when somebody else gets him.

You must be new here. Teachers ADORE him. I will never, ever understand why.

That skipping rock is the roundest I’ve EVER seen!

Fair is fair, make sure you leave the lid off.

A jar of swamp slime sounds like the perfect opportunity to do some long term science observations and logging of same. Could result in a 3-5 page science paper, depending on the time.
