The “rule” that you can’t wear white after Labor day is out of style. It is pointless to conform to this silly “law” of fashion because it is simply irrelevant. Countless designers and fashion icons have proved that white is a timeless and seasonless color, and practically there is no reason not to.
I’m thinking of the John Waters movie, “Serial Mom.” Kathleen Turner plays Beverly, who is appalled by Patty Hearst’s insistence that it’s OK to wear white shoes after Labor Day. Beverly is so incensed that she feels justified in bludgeoning Ms. Hearst to death with a pay phone receiver.
