One Saturday in a competition with a friend on fitbit I got a little over 81,000 steps walking from early morning and into the dark on a long summer day to get the Futuristic Kicks badge, I tried to get there again but could never make it.
Roman soldiers developed the distance for a mile. A pace is the distance determined by each time your left foot (or was it right) touches the ground (2 steps). That distance was 63.36 inches. That makes 1000 paces = to a mile. Most people today do not walk like a Roman Soldier pacing off distance.

I’m more realistic and have mine set for 5,000 steps.

I have to pay attention to how many steps I do for 2 miles on a treadmill…I think I will try the stairs again

You might get them in if you run.

Before I started exercising, I was getting around 4500. I wondered how the heck you could get 10,000. Now I’m around 15,000+ a day.

My goal is 5,000 but I often do 6,000 or 7,000! I’m 77, though that shouldn’t deter me!

My steps are very small and involve many stops. AKA dog walks.

About the only drama around here is making up for lost time with the steps between 11pm and midnight.

Relax, Ralph. 10,000 steps is only 5 miles. If you run it, you might be able to get it out of the way in under an hour.

This is where you would benefit with having a dog with a wagging tail.

There is no actual study that supports the goal of 10,000 steps. But it is a nice round number!

I once hit 8,000 steps while I was on a road trip. That was kind of weird.

So Ralph has only walked 4k steps since he read the article last week?!
