Training and bargaining, Floof. You train us to offer you something if you don’t do anything.

More like stunts than tricks. Arts and Crafts furniture have great arms for a commanding view of the area. Plus cereal bowls and cocoa mugs slide right off, with little effort.

In many old cartoons, comics and stories, the children do say/yell “Tricks or Treats!”

But somehow it morphed into the singular TRICK.

Heck, just for being cute during the day, my kitties get 1 treat if they ask me politely. And at bedtime they each receive 7 treats.

With cuteness like that, you wouldn’t need to do tricks!

Why do we make dogs do “tricks” to get their treats? Because most of the working breeds need to have a job – something to keep their brains busy … and because they seriously love it; they enjoy showing us what they can do.

Excellent question, Floof! And why do we hoomans tell kids never to take candy from strangers all year except for one day when we tell them to not only approach the strangers but to egg their houses if they don’t give you candy.

Most people train dogs with small treats. It’s part of the reward system. I really wanted to train my dog without using food, but the trainer (for therapy dog classes) insisted I use treats. Now she get them for specific reasons, and one at 7p. She used to get one for finishing her breakfast when she was sick earlier this year, so yeah, she still gets a tiny one after breakfast because she trained me to keep it up. 3 calories per treat, so she still has her girlish figure.

Just be cute, and people will gladly give treats to kitties and doggies.
