Some years ago I was brushing our cat, and she started purring looudly as I came to her chest. I brushed a few times and she clamped down on my hand AND WOULD NOT LET GO. I dropped the brush and she finally opened her jaws and set me free. There were deep punctures so I went to Urgent Care. They sent me to the Hand Doctor and his major concern was that it might have reached the bone. He treated and bandaged it and said to come back the next day. The wound was examined on 2 succesive days and it was determined that it didn’t go to the bone. I just needed to apply some yellow/orange stuff they gave me after washing it, to be repeated for a week. When this cat passed I made sure there would never be another in the house.

For enthusiastic kneaders, I put a thick towel on my lap.

Retract the murder mittens, kitty.

The cat may start kneeding, but purring and drooling are sure signs of contentment.

I can deal with that, it’s when they get startled and dash off and their back murder mittens dig in as they leave…that really hurts.

I have a towel for that. I got the point years ago and now I don’t. It’s always important to have your towel.

Uh kitty? I’m glad that you’re happy. But you’re turning my leg into a pincushion!

I was told that the cat’s motion of kneeding the paws/claws is called “making biscuits”.
