My daughter’s first Halloween…we took her trick or treating. First house, they came to the door dressed as the Lone Ranger, mask and all. Kathy took one look and screamed blue bloody murder. We had to take her home. And here I was looking forward to the candy..
Ollie, they are all your friends and can’t wait to see you! I grew up in a city about 3 blocks from the hills, and one year a neighbor reported a mountain lion in her backyard tree right before Halloween. I was terrified to walk down that side of the street, certain it was going to pounce on me. Today, of course, I’d be out looking to find it! Good news from my retina check up – no changes from last year.
You can come to my house, Oliver; there are no trick-or-treaters, hence no ghosties, ghoulies, or things that go bump in the night – other than the other cats, that is.
Don’t worry, Oliver, Annie will protect you. She’ll make sure that any goblins and witches will stay away. On another not, saw a varied thrush, a spotted towhee, two wrens, and four juncos while out walking today.

But, Oliver, don’t you know that witches love cats.
