The part about the lima beans reminds me of this one children’s book called A Bad Case of Stripes.

Basically this girl likes lima beans, but pretends to dislike them, and the world punishes her by making her go through all sorts of unsettling body horror for a children’s book.

The “Banana” part reminds me of a nonsensical joke that one of us in the family will periodically say to another out of the blue. It goes like this between any two of us (there are 4 of us):

“Guess What.”

“What?”

“Bananas!”

“That’s nuts!”

Not really sure how it started, but I don’t see an end in sight. :-P

Marigold sees Phoebe’s trains of thought as a bunch of empty boxcars that can be filled with anything whatever.

It kind of makes it hard to hold (or want to hold) a conversation with you, though. ;)
