But does RJ have to actually read the book after he hasā€”as demandedā€”agreed to read it?

One of my favourite books. Iā€™ve read it several times. If youā€™ve seen any of the movies you know about 5% of the story.

The worldā€™s longest novel is In Search of Lost Time (about 1.3 million words). I havenā€™t read it, but what I found online indicates that the concept of redemption occurs in it. Does anyone know if it contains the word ā€œredeemā€? If it does, Iā€™d like to see RJ try to read it. In fact, Iā€™d like to see anybody read it.

Verne is getting revenge for all those falling cows.

Come to think of it, a falling cow or two might get RJ out of his little problem. Or they could borrow Rat, and his baseball bat, from Pastis.

Never read it. My high school English teacher was obsessed with C. Dickens.

I saw a movie adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo and was left so unsatisfied that I went and bought the 1000+-page unabridged edition of the bookā€¦much better storyā€¦

I would rather read War and Peace, in itā€™s original language!

Considering R.J.ā€˜s attention span, heā€™s gonna need some serious self-discipline to read ā€œLes Miserablesā€. Though he should be thankful that it wasnā€™t ā€œWar and Peaceā€.
