Something tells me this is based on a true story.

a month or so ago, we got new printers where I work. Only problem is apparently nobody thought to get a toner supply for them. Now we have two large boxes that we can’t do anything with and had to borrow an old printer from another location because we use them all the time.

That reminds me, I need to try again to order toner for the 5th week in a row.

we bought a Canon Megatank printer, no cartridges just tanks you refill with bottles. My wife prints a lot for her volunteer work and we’ve had it over a year and haven’t had to refill the tanks yet. It costs more upfront but saves a lot over the long run.

A repeat? I swear I have seen this one before.

The cost per copy is a lot less with a color laser printer, and the quality is good.

I joined the HP Instant Ink program over four years ago. My contract says up to 15 pages a month are free, then it is $1.25 for another 10 pages. So far I have paid them $2.50 and I am still using the huge ink cartridges they sent over four years ago. That proves that they could do better with the small ones that dry up within a year.

Won’t work if you have HP printers.

I tossed my last printer out the window maybe ten years ago. No regrets. The ink sometimes dried up because I don’t print much, and I have been amazed at how many options exist once I say, “I don’t have a printer.” If I really need something printed, which is rare, I just go to the library. No need for silos here, but they maybe have uses elsewhere.

Since I didn’t really need color for the things I occasionally print out, I bought a black and white laser printer after my old inkjet died a couple years ago. Still using the toner cartridge that came with it.

Costco? BJs?

The cheapest printer ink goes for about $1,500 per gallon. Even with a 50% discount he probably needed a second mortgage on his house. (Yes. I’m aware this is only a comic strip.)

I shudder to imagine the results of a leak.

Buy an Epson eco tank. Best thing I ever did…printer-wise
