This reminds me of Christmas when I was first married. My then-wife didn’t like how my family patiently opened our presents, took turns and did it one at a time so everyone could see what each person got. This made complete sense to me, was polite to gifters and giftees, and just the right way to do it! Then, with her family, I was horrifed! Everyone got their several gifts at the same time and proceeded to open them all (i.e., without an “audience”), so for the most part we didn’t really get a good look at what everyone else received. Worst of all, my younger brother-in-law would always rip the wrapping off of every present he had as fast as possible! Oh well, every family has their own ways of doing things. In this case, it was no doubt from the fact that I came from a small, quiet family, and she was from a larger, much more “active” family.
The moments go fast, used to have our kids sleep in our room with us on Christmas Eve. And their whispering and excitement, made it even more exciting for us.
