Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Boys will be boys, up till about 20 when they realize that is not acceptable behavior. Here in the city, the teenage âladiesâ have followed suit. Eww! I hate to appear a sexist, butâ
lindz.coop,
The 65 million year old bones âyouâve foundâ :o), are based on evolutionist presumptions which calculate to long ages. There are numerous calculations by creationist scientists which yield much younger ages. Check out www.icr.org and other similar websites for many articles on the subject.
The age of the universe doesnât have to be exactly 4004 B.C. I can allow for some minor gaps in the Biblical chronology to make it 6,000-10,000 years or so.
I hope your family members, students, and friends arenât so rigid in their beliefs and attitudes that they have turned you off. This discussion could go on and on. Iâve tried to be as brief as possible and still make the points and explanations clear enough to be understood.
Puddleglum2 (and Jon Rakkav): please think about what you write before you post offtopic to a comics site. In fact it would help matters if you take the debates to email.
That said, this particular C&H is why we love Calvin. Heâs annoying and yet charmingly disgusting at the same time! Plus Hobbes is a cat right; why doesnât he cough up hairballs?
On most days, the comments and insights are as funny and intelligent as the comic strip itself, and are part of the fun of coming here. I wish today was one of those days.
âBleah! That was just so grossâ!
Thatâs my sentiment, too! Itâs not funny, today!
My earlier comments were in response to questions and opinions from yesterdayâs posts.
I donât think we always have to stick strictly to the subject of the comic, especially when itâs frankly rather disgusting, so I disagree with BinaryWiener although I appreciate the politeness. I also thank tamron for the term âmore informedâ.
I read this strip and the comments each morning as I sit at my computer with my morning bowl of oatmeal and shredded wheat. For some reason today Iâve lost my appetite âŚ
One of Wattersonâs grosser efforts. Oh, well, they canât all be brilliant, and he did hit the mark (no reference to this strip intended) more often than most.
yeah lighten all you prim and propers â is there any young boy that never tried to hock a loogey? i think not! it takes practice to perfect this art. calvin actually is quite advance for his age.
Dino I was hoping for some more of your good stories. C&H brings them out in you.
I had an uncle that would do what Calvin did and when my mom made a gross comment he would do it to gross her out.
Me I have a lot of sinus drainage at times more with no kleenxe at hand there are times when I have to get rid of it :(yuk) but not like Calvin.
I wish every a safe Memorial Day weekend as we remember what the day really means to the ones who lost their lives for our freedom. I wish those spammers would go away making our lives misserable. I do flag but doesnât do much good.
Iâm with Hobbes too â tho he certainly could win if (as someone else suggested) furballs were allowed. We have 3 cats and we just follow them around (the staff) with a bottle of carpet cleaner. Carbona works great!
Re: the rant on evolution vs creation â I donât debate such issues in a comic strip format unless the strip is about it (as NonSeq kinda was this week). It only got here because some of us think Danae & Calvin would be a good pair.
Kab Buch:
Sorry I donât really remember the guys doing this when I was young so no stories today! Only thing I remember them doing was long distance spitting contests. I guess now the teenagers do it with tobacco chewing. Now thatâs gross!
Hopefully Sunday Iâll have a good story to go with the comic for you, thanks!
Its great! If Calvin would tilt his head back and get a 45° angle on it then he would get the farthest range on that loogie! (Just donât let it go backwards!) More mass gives him more momentum too! Go to it Calvin, you can always become a rocket scientist!
Poindexter: I believe about 40° would produce sufficient altitude for longer range depending on wind conditions.
Iâm not one to brag, but I use to be quite good at this skill (I guess I still am). Calvin could maximize his velocity by rolling his tongue (if he got that particular gene) and blowing through it as the loogie entered the temporary tube, much like shooting spit wads through a straw.
I lived in a trailer park which I despised immensely due to their attitude toward having children (but that would be a long story) so to make it short, every morning on my way to the bus stop I would hock up a solid green one and shoot it as accurately as possible onto their sign. Most dried and remained for long periods of timeâŚ
Ahh, the fond memories!
I have gotten a whole lot more information today than I ever expected. But itâs all in good fun.
Maybe next week itâll be about a âflatulenceâ contest. In my neighborhood, it took at least a triple flutter blast to win.
Iâm not a âprim and properâ, as someone here put it. Itâs just I can totally mentally hear that sound in the first panel and Iâm sorry, but it nauseates me when someone does that, maybe because usually when I hear it itâs someone with a cold who then SWALLOWS it. I mean, yeee-uuuuugh. I guess some people havenât heard of the modern invention of the facial tissue. Blow that stuff outta there! Or at the very least spit into one. So, Iâm with Hobbes on the gross-out.

I think Calvin would win contests at the local bars with that natural ability.

In a few years the gross acts will be from a different orifice. And I have never understood that brand of âhumor.â
