Finally, we see someone taking control of a cat.

When we lived out in a relatively rural area, we always let our cats out, and they always came back (not counting the one my older sister… nvm), but when I got a cat in a more urban setting, I kept her inside, and I’m on my second and third cat that are fine with that arrangement.

The cat lets you THINK you are in charge, nothing more.

Jimbo, I’m shocked and disappointed. Domestic cats should NEVER be allowed outdoors. What a bad example you’re setting for your cat-owning readers. Shame, shame, shame.

Sure, throw the cat outdoors where it can destroy native bird and mammal species.

Cats should be kept indoors. Outdoors, they contribute to the loss of our birds.

In the early days of Peekaboo’s residency, we saw her once with a whole, live bird in her mouth (and presumably Rose rescued it). Another time she caught a butterfly and lost it when she yawned. Really, the only time I saw her sucessfully hunt anything, it was a cricket. (She was envisioning it as a big juicy burger, fries, and a drink!)

That is, if it doesn’t get smushed on the street and never returns. People need to be responsible for their animals…..letting them run loose in the neighborhood is not being responsible. I guess they can get a shovel and scrape it off the pavement.

You don’t really own a cat. You just abide her presence in your house.

I always just pick up the cat, sit down, and put the cat on my lap. He usually just goes back to sleep, and my lap stays warm.

We never let our cats outdoors when we lived in Overland PK Kansas, & especially when we relocated to AZ desert territory in Catalina far North of Tucson.

My teddy bears (maybe a 100 of them in a variety of media and varying from 1/2 inch to 3 ft tall) are extremely content to stay in our house and the smaller ones like to visit “the Teddy Village” at the top of the stairs (soon will setting up same for Christmas).

They know a good deal when they get it.

(If anyone is interested I will relate the story and history of the Teddy Village and how it came to be – just ask – I will not otherwise bore everyone with the details.)
