The reason so many colleges and universities are liberal bastions is because education in a large, diverse atmosphere dispels the narrow minded dogma of insular small town conservatism. Actual interaction with new people and ideas as opposed to self reinforcing ideologies allows people to form independent thoughts and relearn their place in the world.
It also allows them to differentiate between opinion and fact.
“Teach them to think critically”, the critics say to educators. “Stop thinking critically and just believe the word of a con man” say those same critics.
People do not have to choose to be exclusively either liberal or conservative.
I’m a financial conservative, but a social liberal.
You’ll never convince me to support Keynesian economics. I also do not see value in a larger, more powerful central government. The states and local governments should listen to their citizens.
I do support medically-necessary abortion, making it available in cases like rape (but not as a general means of birth control – there are better options). Gay marriage – go for it. Could not care less. Gender change for children – Nope. That crosses the line.
Do I personally approve of same-sex relationships? No, but that should not matter to you. Live your life, I’ll live mine. Just do not “require” my approval or (financial) support. (Back to the conservative thing).
Have a happy Thanksgiving. Be grateful you live in a country that allows you to live life the way you want. I’ve lived in 22 countries. With all its faults, this is still the best.

Hey Eric & Bill, didn’t you get the memo? You won. Now you’re going to get what you voted for, good and hard. Remember that you asked for it.

As a liberally educated person, you can recognize “Fake News” because it is called so by some trailer trashy moron in a red hat yelling “Fake News!”.
Enjoying fake news and forming bogus opinions are benefitted by less education, not more.
