Even though “Adam” has already had a thread where Katy (and Clayton) are stuck under the tree, I just now got a memory that once, a very long time ago, I did that!
I finished the last of the Christmas trees/decorating yesterday!
Now, remember, I am Jewish and grew up with the only Christmas tree I had anything to do with was the one in the classroom in elementary school. Husband is Catholic. One problem he caused is that he explained “the all balls rule” to me the first time I helped put up his family’s tree. So I insist on all the decorations going on the trees (okay, this year we ran so late the back of the main tree is naked – but it is not seen anyway – and the plain balls were not put on the tree).
We started like normal people with one tree. We would buy ornaments when we traveled. We would go to Santa’s World (I think that is the name) a wholesaler in Manhattan when we went into the city on the day after Thanksgiving and bought at wholesale from the ornaments they had not been sell at wholesale. Did this for probably about 25/30 years. And we would buy ornaments as souvenirs when we traveled. So we accumulated a lot of ornaments.
One year we bought a new tree. I had husband make the top tree shaped section of the old tree a stand and set it up at the top of stairs and transferred most of the bear ornaments on to it to make more room on the big living room tree.
Another few years go by and we had bed bugs. Husband did not want to take out the big tree as everything in the house had only recently heated and he was concerned about the tree, so that year we bought another small tree and used it instead. The next year when we went back to our regular tree I took the small one we had bought and set it up in our craft studio with an assortment of our handmade ornaments on it.
I then noticed that the brass annual ornaments from Colonial Williamsburg were taking over the tree. Sooo – Bought a tall, thin tree and set it up in our dining room (which is paneled and is decorated 18th century, so a tree should not be there – but …) and put the CW ornaments on it.

Love that first panel. Maybe next Halloween, Clayton can dress as an Xmas tree to gp trick-or-treating.

The Christmas tree lights are best seen from the head of the couch (with the tree at the foot), while reading Christmas books.

Our tree has twinkling, multicolored lights. I remove my eyeglasses, and they’re beautiful puffballs! Sometimes, weak eyes are great!
