Doing the “Santa Shuffle” does not negate “time outs”.

I loss my black cat, Miles three days ago. I remember when I got him. I am not a cat person and never will be. My wife had gotten a black and white female cat, Barb, from Pestsmart. About a year later, we were there getting cat food and I was walking the isles, checking out the dogs, with my buddy, Brutus. (He was a Roc and loved everyone. If someone broke into our home, he would slobber all over them.) Any way, I am walking an I feel something tug at my sleeve. I turned to look and there was this beautiful black cat with blue eyes, like my wife’s, pawing my arm. The woman working there said she was shocked because he didn’t like anyone, because he had been abused. Wrong words to say. I immediately adopted him. He wasn’t afraid of any dogs and he showed that to Brutus, when we got home.

My Miles would sleep on my pillow, above my head, every night. On cold days he would get on the bed and pull the covers over him. He would nip me, when sitting on my lap, purring, just to show me that he was boss, not me. The nips were not hard or painful, but I would gently box him on the jaw and say, stop that Miles.

In the morning, before anyone else was awake, we would sit in the breakfast room and he would drink his milk and I would eat my oatmeal. I really miss him. He was just 14 plus years, when I lost him to cancer.
