It just isn’t so important now.

It should be no great shock that many younger people, except toward maybe their very closest relatives, find the presence of old people in general as irrelevant and rather a nuisance — As with the struldbrugs in ‘Gulliver’s Travels’. IMO

When we’re kids that’s all we think about but when you get older, you don’t care since you’ve become comfortable with who you are.

In psych class in college I mentioned spending time with my parents’ best friends from their high school days. One person said, “wait, parents can have friends?”

in the words of Popeye, “I am what I am”.If someone doesn’t like me for me then screw them. Fortunately my parents taught me that from an early age.
