Sooner or later somebody is going to crack. I remember a story about a scale house in California, who pulled a truck driver in and gave him an inspection, treated him badly and wrote some tickets. The driver drove down the road, circled around, drove back to the scale house full speed and crashed into it and nobody survived. California never rebuilt that scale house.
I bought my house in the late ‘90s, before I had regular Internet access, and even THEN I’d heard enough HOA horror stories that I told my agent I didn’t want to buy anywhere that had one.Walt’s lived in that house for decades, since before HOAs were a thing. I’m guessing it’ll turn out that he never agreed to join, and Mr. Couldn’t-Get-Into-the-Police-Academy-So-I’m-Doing-This-Instead will end up frustrated. There are stories of HOAs trying to enforce their rules on homeowners who were there before the HOA was formed.
So far, I’m liking this story and am anxious (for now) to see where it goes. Has Jim rediscovered his touch? Or will he mess this up somehow? I’m being cautiously optimistic here.
I know it’s just a cartoon, but given that it’s come up before, why don’t any of them, when confronted in this way, just point out who Walt Wallet IS to the community. That really would clear things up in a real small town.

After his costly divorce from Veronica Lodge, Reggie Mantle has had to bum bit parts in third-rate comic strips.

Fine. You go ahead and wait out there. And be quiet while you’re doing it. MISTER Wallet will see you at his convenience.

I thought Mr. Wallet lived in the country not a subdivision, so no HOA.
