I’ve tried reading about the Bore War, but I can never keep my eyes open. And when I read about some of the revolutions throughout history, my head spins.

The Boers were Dutch settlers in South Africa. The Ottoman Empire included what is now Turkey. The Norman Conquest was by people from the Normandie region of what is now France.

I lived two houses away from an elderly gentleman who had fought in the Boer War. I was very young, so I had no reference points to ask him questions … a missed opportunity. I do remember, though, that he did not glorify it … in fact, the opposite.
