There are some birds who do not leave for the winter. Yesterday as I walked past a stand of tall arborvitae, I heard a choir of birds singing from inside the trees. I am not sure which species as they were heard but not seen but it was a cheerful start to the day.
Lovin’ the art. It looks a lot like the scenery out my window. ‘Walkin’ in a Winter wonderland.’ Sirius’ endearing innocence, always charming.
living in the south, this is when we get to host some of those traveling species. of course my dogs tend to greet birds a bit enthusiastically. A big brown pelican got a rowdy welcome a few mornings ago, but the browns are here year round. The white ones, though, fabulous to watch when they visit.

Aww. Doesn’t work that way, Sirius. They’d all need thick jackets…

We have a bunches of sparrows of various kids, wrens, cardinals, juncos, etcetcetc. Do they all really leave Canada and come here?

Yeah, we gardeners are all itching to plant, but it’s too early, even for sunflowers or bird seed.

I’m thinking of getting a birdbath heater for our backyard birdbath. Right now, they have a skating rink.

Around here, cardinals, jays and wrens these three abide in the bushes and trees all winter along with hawks, ravens and vultures.

So, does Sirius think that birds will grow from the bird seed? He has been watching Kate plant seeds recently! :D
