It was a particularly vicious leaf. I saw it twitch.

Why would Poncho smell fear? The leaf doesn’t seem to care if Poncho is around. Now if he had a leaf blower, who knows?

One of my first weeks after training, the other docents at the Bronx Zoo were arguing whether to tell kids going into the ape house that they’re going to smell urine there. One group said that will just get them to expect to go “ewwww”, the other group said they’ll notice a smell and then stop noticing.

I never did an ape house tour. :)

I smelled something stronger than fear in the 3rd panel.

“AHHH! Oh, it’s just another rotting leaf giving off a stench.

“Hey, wait a minute … .”

When you live in poisonous snake territory, that’s a life skill.

That would be runners on the hiking trail who did not see the p o o p. Or mountain bikers, those bikes do not have fenders,

Olfactory fatigue.
