As someone born and raised in a moderate climate state, then moving to the PNW, I had no idea what snow chains, studded tires, or ice scrapers where. My first attempt at clearing an iced over winshield was a bucket of water splashed on it….yeah, that ended up just like you think it did. Next was a kitchen spatula, and life was good. After my wife demanded her spatula back my drivers licence did the trick. Eventually I broke down and bought an authentic ice scraper. Ahh…..good times!
I quit scrapers! I park in the garage, where god intended me to park. If I somehow get caught out in the open world, I will sit there and wait for the defroster to help me.
When I worked overnights, either a bread deliveryman or a soda deliveryman would scrape my car windows each morning, but no one else’s. That was always a pleasant surprise after a long hard night of working.

I use the ones in the mail. They’re thicker.

You can also use them for lock-picking…

Well, that’s just silly. People know a plastic pancake flipper has a way longer reach.

I use the ‘Member’, ‘Contributor Since’ cards that come in the mail. I’m not about to wreck the only two credit cards I carry scraping my windshield

Pfffft. Up North, you always have a SERIOUS big scraper/brush combo with a long handle. Or just use a snow shovel.
