They trained us in speed reading in fifth grade. Rereading the textbook before a final became common for our cohort. I bet Penny could finish that stack by the end of the week, if Mr.Beals put her mind to it.

Never, ever, ever say that to a book lover. There’s no such thing as too many books!

If I could live to read all the books I have in my collection, I would live forever. Ebooks just make it too easy. I have over 5,000 titles on Kindle, over 1,000 titles on my computer, and very small percentage of those are the same.

I could read one or two books a week when I had time. Now it takes at least a month to read one.

Having unread books is a reason to keep living. I’ll be on my deathbed with a pile of books saying, “Just let me finish these…”

Ditto. Plus I have more web comics than I can possibly read!

We had a joke going through our area once. You asked people who knew you, “if you saw me in the back of a police car what would you think had happened?”My son said, “The policeman asked why you were speeding and driving erratically and you said, ‘Sir, I can’t talk to you right now. Just hold on til the end of this chapter.’”

Being a book reader is kind of unnerving when you are sitting in a doctors office reading your book and everyone else is on their phone. They look at you like you are nuts.

There’s no such thing as too many books. Whatever I have left is going with me to the afterlife. I’ll have plenty of time to read there.
