I empathize with you Mr. Collins, but I know you will make the right decision in the end. Your strip has provided many of us with some good belly laughs through the years!!!
Dan, I not only love your strip, but for the next four years I think I’ll NEED it. I support the newspapers with two subscriptions. I can’t support GoComics because they don’t have a pay-by-check option (I minimize my credit card activity on the internet).
You could put your strips behind a paywall on your own site. If you’re asking a moderate fee, many would support you. Begging seems to work for Wikipedia, but you probably don’t want to do that. Your followers know that Muskies don’t come cheap.
I am truly sorry that you are considering quitting your strip. Many of the simple joys of today are slipping by the wayside. That you can’t earn a fair wage is part of the way today. The people who work the hardest or in SERVICE to others are not truly compensated for their labors of love. Good luck in whatever you choose to do and know I have really enjoyed your talent.
It’s a shame GoComics doesn’t make it easier to understand how much better the paid subscriber experience is (single page with just the updated strips). The day I subscribed I was amazed and wished I had started sooner.

I’d feel a little bit more sympathy for Mr. Collins if he hadn’t drawn one figure and then just mirrored copied it three times. Seems to be a little lazy. Or maybe that’s the joke.
I will be sad to see you go and I was happy to collect some of your flippin muskee stuff; I did think the adds offset some ofthe overhead and pay but sad to hear it has come up short
I have gradually been supporting some political cartoonists because they are getting harassed. I would like to support more cartoonists, but Substack charges $80 a year per account and I don’t have enough money to support as many as I’d like to.
I hope you decide to stay, as you and other cartoonists provide a much needed diversion and often a bit of joy in these very troubling times. In the end be true to yourself.

Musky guide? Some of pay an annual subscription to GoComics, doesn’t that get divvied up among the artists? Although it couldn’t be that much.

The public doesn’t appreciate what happened when newspapers faded away. Don’t know a nice way of saying that comics are collateral damage.

It would be sad to see you go.
It does bug me a little, however, that you copy pasted and flipped your drawing without reversing the copy on the T-Shirt.

First it was buggy whips, then aspic, and now this. The first two never raised so much as a smirk.

I’ve always wondered how much of the GoComics subscription cost actually goes to the artist.

Would you do another 5 or 10 years of this, Mr. Collins?
