I still remember a poem I wrote back in first year French:

L’amour,

C’est comme les saissions.

Il fluent en le printemps

Et mourierent en l’hiver.

Teenage angst right there.

I remember a good many number of poems we had to learn in elementary school (La Fontaine fables for most of them), I can’t remember my office password.

The only one I remember or even care to remember is “Purple cow” I never saw a Purple Cow.I never hope to see one,But I can tell you, anyhow,I’d rather see than be one!

I’ve written quite a few poems over the years. Couldn’t recite a single one from memory…

First poem (limericks and such aside) that I ever learned by heart was “Jabberwocky.”

I memorized “The Owl and the Pussycat” for fifth grade and I still know it. What were the names of the characters in the book I finished yesterday? I have no idea.

“… and in the world’s darkest place let there be light.”

Only poem I remember is the one I memorized in 2nd Grade. It would be banned now. It was in an anthology of poetry I found in the school library. The anthology was 3 inches thick. It took me forever to find that poem to memorize it.

I have sung Hope is the thing. music really helps with memorization
