The one word Mutt didn’t look up, go figure!

Apologies fans, caught a project I couldn’t put down tonight, so I’m nearly ready to start working up the classics update for the 13th… length and time TBD.

Jeff still looks like Jeff but Mutt is not quite looking himself today.

I think Andy Gump was fashioned after Mutt.

The way Mutt was murdering words sounds a bit like the interplay between Joel and Rufus. But, while RUFUS’s malapropisms were accidental, and unintended….. when our hero, our professorial, pipe smoking Joel uses a malapropism…. it is intentional, sometimes ironic, and often exceedingly witty.

As I have tended to view both Mutt AND Jeff as reasonably logical in their own ways (not nearly as smart as Joel, but head and shoulders above Rufus….. even short Jeff)… I am surprised that Mutt is being portrayed as a bit more Rufus-like today by Mr. Scancarelli.

Still it is great to see the Gasoline Alley and Mutt & Jeff mash up!

Did anybody else catch today’s “Bloom County” rerun? In it, Nancy laments, “Is a deceased artist’s style and personality to be plundered like jewels from his grave?!”. Pogo, shouts, “Thieves! Frauds! Un-Personators!” before collapsing in tears as he wails, “I’m glad good ol’ Walt din’t live t’ see this traversty o’ justis!”
