I am part of a group that helps people with their job searches. Part of what we do is conduct mock interviews with people. We then critique the interview to give pointers on how people can better answer questions on a real interview. I have a huge document on how to ace an interview. We also record the interview so that the interviewees can evaluate their own performances.
It’s a very valuable exercise.
The three main pointers we give people.
1. Make eye contact – this means looking at the camera during a video interview. It’s OK to look up or down or off to the side in the half minute or so while framing your answer, but when you deliver, look at your audience.
2. Don’t ramble. This is why practice interviews are so important. You may know what you are talking about, but you have to deliver it succinctly and to the point without side trips and you have to do it in under 3 minutes for complex questions or one minute for simpler questions.
3. Probably more important than the other two: SMILE. Most people look better when they smile; some light up the whole room. If you have a good smile, use it!

Funny how advanced facial recognition software is especially in Law Enforcement but on a cell phone it is still in the medieval stage.
