Years ago I travelled around the south shore of Nova Scotia, visiting graveyards with my second cousin, an amateur historian. He was writing a history on a segment of our shared family and had lost a thread of the story, so grave traipsing was the only way. We visited 3 graveyards, quite a distance apart, but never found the link he was looking for. Well, now that he too has passed, I know where to look for him.
Just for those who don’t know: There are some websites where you can look up gravestones. It’s really wonderful. I was able to find the burial sites of several relatives, along with dates of birth and death and often listing relations, which is great for me as all of my near relations passed away decades ago. I can’t imagine someone being nice enough to take the time to go around old cemeteries and take clear pictures of them all and reference them so people could search for them. What a blessing.

Hardly a graveyard, more a grave, surely?

Darn ground squirrels, or maybe the cute bunny I sometimes see, keep eating the pansies I planted on Fred’s and LJ’s graves.

One of my friends loved investigating old graveyards to see what was written on the headstones.
