In order to enjoy the grandkids, you have to take the bad times along with the good times.

They should trade houses every three months

My nephew, many, many years ago, when he was 4 years old, told my father, “Grandpa, I don’t like it when you’re here. You make us obey mom.” Never the less, her kids loved their grandpa.

Has Dan Shelton been looking over Jimmy Johnson’s shoulder for the last few days?

I raised my sons 100 miles from my parents. My In-laws were very stingy with their babysitting time. There were times when it was a serious hardship. I vowed to always be available to my kids if they needed sitters and they have taken full advantage. If ever I feel resentful I remember my vow and, so far, have been able to adjust my attitude.

There are rewarding moments as well, and you’d miss them if they were gone.

We are 6 hours away from out kids and grandkids. I enjoy visiting them, and I suggest we stay 2-3 days. But I always compromise with my wife’s wishes, and we stay 7-12 days.

My oldest daughter just found out she’s pregnant. Due September 28. This is the first for both sets of grandparents. She lives 20 minutes from me and one street over from her in-laws.

The grass is always greener…

I hope Arlo & Janice read this strip. In their comic, they are currently planning to move to be closer to a new grandbaby.
