While “DEI” actually stands for “diversity, equity and inclusion” and just means ensuring that everyone gets a fair shot at equality of OPPORTUNITY (not outcomes) — the chance to compete on a level playing field — a meaning of DEI that would be more appropriate to the context of the bigoted, hateful elitism of those who really do get ahead based on their gender and skin color — white males born to wealth and privilege — would be that they “DIDN’T EARN IT.”
In the Trump era, a woman or person of color is automatically seen as a “DEI” hire or promotion, no matter their extensive experience, achievements, awards or past successes. A truly self-made successful prosecutor, attorney general, senator and vice president running against a 34x CONVICTED FELON who has also been adjudicated liable for sexual assault, business fraud and has failed in every business he ran with his father’s money? Wait, she is a woman of color, so go with the felonious sexual assaulting failed business fraud.
A drunken TV host credibly accused of sexual assault and serial adultery vs a highly-decorated four-star general as Secretary of Defense? Go with the drunk; the general is African American. A three-star general to replace as four star general as chairman of the joint chiefs? The three-star guy is a white Trump loyalist, so of course he is more qualified than an African American four star general.
While quality of life doesn’t seem to be a concern for most Americans, I find my quality of life greatly improved by a wide diversity of people, cultures, conditions, all with truly equal chances to make their mark in society, and all feeling like they truly belong.
