Clearly Appleby has great instinct though. I don’t remember a time where he was wrong. Should be able to pass the medical exams quickly if the TV has taught me anything. It usually lies though.
I think the lesson is no matter you’re standing and education, and you allow it we all can learn from almost anyone that you come in contact with, not having every answer is not the end of the world, and to some having the answer for anything is kind of cool
He’s not “qualified,” or he’s not certified?
He correctly diagnosed a hairline bone fracture, and it wasn’t a lucky guess. He was qualified to do so, he just doesn’t have a piece of paper licensing him to do it.
I’d say he’s not qualified to perform orthopedic surgery, but he’s probably qualified to prepare a splint. You don’t need an MD to administer First Aid.

Joe just went on limited duty. He cannot use his weapon with a splinted thumb therefore cannot ride in an RPC.
