Oops, you caught me JFri. I misread on the second last page of yesterday’s comic. Sounds like you know the island well. Yep, we’ve been to Hatley Castle - it’s part of Royal Roads University ad we love walking in the gardens there. The peacocks rule the roost although the students chase them for their tail feathers. Haven’t been to Fort Rod Hill for years although it was a favorite place for my boys. Haven’t been to a logging museum in Nanaimo but have spent time at the one in Duncan - it’s great but with money tight, they are letting some of the machines rust away - a real shame. Thy still use the steam train on special days. Of course, the Royal Museum in Victoria is a very special place. The dioramas are fabulous - better than most museums. And we have season tickets to the Imax there so can see it at any time. We go into Victoria regularly since my husband’s parents live there.

    Good Morning Tribe

I missed a good thread, the one about a person with MPD who has one personality wanting/trying to commit suicide are the other personalities ‘hostages’. I say yes, especially if they themselves are not wanting to die. Even if suicide is not on the mind of one…if he/she is dominate enough to be able to ‘take command the body’, the others may also be considered hostages if they do not want to engage in that activity.

Anyway, things are ok today. I’ve arranged a tow for my car and I’m puttering about the kitchen with the last bits. I’m not hungry this morning, but I’ll take some juice with thanks. And…while taking the keys out to the car so they can work on it, I picked up Krispy Kreams. Just ‘cause I’m not hungry don’t mean you guys should starve! Enjoy!

Thanks for the attempts last night to figure out what triggers my filter. I’m guessing it can get set off by a combination of words, not just single words like the gocomics nannybot. The filter doesn’t have settings for various age groups, so that means the filter only has a “all family” setting. If it bothers the tribe for me to count to flip to the next page, please tell me. Or, what I can do the next time it happens, is just post a message that says, “1”. Then I’ll check back in a few minutes to see if you’re on the next page yet. Please let me know what the tribe would like for me to do.

Terry, I’ve got the ideal job. I have a beautiful view of the mountains from my desk, I can prop open the front door for fresh air, I do the same things, and many different things. Once in a while I get to go out in the field if the guys need an extra hand surveying. We have a couple of outdoor field days for farmers during spring and fall and I’m always at those. And the really nice thing, EVERYBODY IN THIS OFFICE GETS ALONG!! Sure sometimes we have squabbles, but they don’t last long at all.

I am happy for someone I know when I hear that they like their job. I hear too many times how some don’t like it or even hate going to work each day(except payday of course). I’ve worked at a couple of places where I didn’t like how the owners ran the place and i just gave my notice and moved on. It’s not worth it to me. With the economy the way it is, maybe that changes. I hope I don’t find out!

hi shika. i just got here. thanks for the timbits! i really don’t care for Krispy Kremes (or the custard filling in Timmies Boston Creme and Canadian Maple). My preferences are sourdough glazed and maple iced. what a morning. by the time i read up on my Aussie Rules Football and MLS, and did the daily puzzles (and weekly ones that come out on Mondays) i’d all ready blown a couple of hours. good thing i’m off work today. (i’d never have been able to visit, otherwise).

Thanks for asking, shika! I go to the specialist tomorrow morning. I didn’t have any problems to speak of finding where I needed to drive, even though I couldn’t read the street signs until I was almost close enough to turn. Having my laptop with a GPS program was a godsend! It was very helpful having been there the weekend before with my hubby driving, so I could look at the landmarks. The GPS program (StreetAtlas) would tell me how soon I needed to turn, left or right, and the name of the street/highway that I needed to turn onto. On Friday evening, my cousin picked me up at my motel, and drove us to & from the restaurant. Since she’s lived in COS for several years, it took a lot of stress off of me. It was a very nice evening visiting with my cousin!

You can also take 3-4 packets of Knox (clear) gelatin powder, mix it with barely enough hot water to disolve it, and then dump it in the toilet bowl and let it setup on him while he sleeps….unscrew all of his lightbulbs and hide them in the oven….unscrew the shower head and put beef bullion cubes inside - that one will make him very popular with the kitties…

Jfri you can buy at joke shops a device called an “Auto Fooler” about the size of a felt marker pen with two wire leads coming off. It has a slow burning charge with a whistle, then a firecracker and smoke bomb.

I wired one to my university prof’s motorcycle, but had to piece together some shorter bits of wire to make the connection. He happened to notice it, so next day in class he did a lecture on cold solder joints using it as an example. So I waited 2 weeks and soldered one up in the lab and got him good!

Much interest about having a beard, but if you wait a few days, it will be back, and in a week or two, as full as ever. Cleo, I am a bit envious of you. I wish I had a lake I could do that with.

RRAMom been thinking about your problem. Why don’t you get yourself a laptop of your own, if you can. You don’t need the extra bells and whistles if your kids don’t have access to it.

Dry - I do have my own laptop. Part of it is the example I set, part of it is that I can’t guarantee my hubby or my sons won’t use it. (Especially the two geeks). If it bothers you for me to up the posts until we go to another page, I’ll just sit it out.

    WHOO-HOO!

I did it! I fixed my computer. You’ll never guess who the culprit was: Mr. Microsoft himself. He copied himself three times (talk about multiple personalities!) and disguised himself as my driver. But I had replaced him with Mr. Realtec highspeed driver in May.

Once I sleuthed him out, cowering deep in my hard-drive, I fired him! Three times. It wasn’t easy. first I had to disable him (ouch!) three times. Then I had him uninstalled three times before he gave up and left me alone to my own devices.

So this back up only took me several hours of my life, lots of patience (not) and about a fifth of Royal Crown.

Since I don’t drink in RL (much), you can tell how upset he made me.

But I’ve cleaned up my files, defragged the whole shebang, and unistalled or disabled a slew of programs I didn’t even know I had. I mean, when am I going to have time to make a movie on my computer? Or play Wheel of fortune or chess, for heaven’s sake?

Watch- I’ll be asked to do that this fall, never fails!

I need to speak with most of you here. My daughter ladywolf17 has been doing the best she can controlling her self I know that she has done and said stupid things here. some of you notice however that for the past few days, she has improved in her people skills and has manage to find away to keep herself in control.

The thing that bothers me however is, that she was told here that she has to earn friendship. How is that even possible for her, When most of you continue to ignore her, She feels left out, and even though she likes it here, the continuing silent treatment that she continues to receive is beginning to hurt her. You all say that she is loved here. So talk to her when she wants to chat with you all. Or just tell her to leave. She’s not stupid, she will understand if she is not wanted here. I thought that this was supposed to be a place for everyone to have fun, please don’t tell me I’m wrong.

wolfbyte - This is indeed a site to have fun. Deception tends to be a problem and I for one find it difficult to converse with anyone that I find might be deceiving me. I want to build relationships with people that I can easily trust. I do not want to exclude, but I want to talk to people that I do not feel are being anything but themselves. If I sense that someone is being something or someone other than whom they really are, I tend not to respond. I give every one a fair chance, than I decide after a few posts if I want to continue corresponding with that person.

I agree with what Cleo just said. I do not like deception. I like people that I can trust. I’m not at all comfortable with people who pretend to be other than what they truly are. I’m not seeing the purpose in deceiving others, there are so many worthwhile ways to spend your time.
