Is Hobbes the best companion when Calvin enters his house after school?

Maybe cryptomaniac can tell us about his intimate tiger friend/friends. Surely he has found at least one in India among so many, (although tigers have become an endangered species). Well, after Thanksgiving dinner you may have stuffed people and/or stuffed tigers. I’ll take my chances with some people, but we are all deficient in some areas. Only heaven will be ideal.

I have a miniature Hobbs brushing against my ankles now at 4 AM and he never has a bad word to say about me. Course if I don’t feed him soon I may learn the meaning of tooth and nail.

Not everyone is lucky enough to have a tiger!

This must be “Be kind to your kitty” day. I love that quote by Robert Heinlein and I will be using it on a few cat haters I know.

I have no problem with stuffed cats, it’s the live ones that bother me. I’ll never be one of their “staff”.

i agree wholeheartedly it is nice to go out into the countryside and see the changing leaves, too bad it is usually followed by snow here where i live

When my son turned 6, he reminded me of Calvin in so many ways. He had a cape & ran around the house pretending to be a superhero! And when he was a baby, he had a huge white Siberian tiger that he climbed all over & I finally had to sneak it out when it got too dirty & couldn’t be cleaned. Then he had a little tiger, that made a real tiger growl when it’s tummy was squeezed.

I can’t remember where I heard this but I like it.

Florchi: That’s a great quote from Fernand Mery. Never heard of him, but it reflects how a lot of us feel. Now the Heinlein quote: I don’t remember it, but I bet it’s from “The Door Into Summer.” I never thought much about cats until I read that book as a teenager. I’ve been a confirmed Ailurophile ever since.

I recognize that quote. Actually, it’s from “The Cat Who Walks Through Walls”, another great read. However, “The Door Into Summer” is possibly one of my favorite books; my father introduced it to me at a young age when my peers were reading stuff like Nancy Drew. At the time we had a cat named “Petronius the Arbiter”–Pete for short.

Heinlein had cats in many of his books. It was one of his endearing literary traits.

Like Calvin and Heinlein, I talk to my cats too. Just like this cartoon, they always seem to have a different view of things. The things they tell me…

Awww…. Hobbes ruined a perfectly good ‘angry’.

My cockatoo would get excited about cats. And not just apprehensive or scared. She seemed to be fascinated by them. Just calling “kitty-kitty” would excite her. She would start looking for it. I never understood how she knew what that meant. My avatar looks exactly like her reaction. (It’s not her, she’s gone now).

SaraCVT: It’s still one of my favorites. I made my kids read it and they both loved the story. Our first cat was named “Pete,” also after PTA. Small world, to drift so far off topic, eh? ;-)

Looking at the scenery always makes me feel better.

Has anyone notice Christmas lights are out with Thanksgiving just a few short days away. I am trying to be optomistic but it’s hard.

calvin you are lucky to be in the area that shows the beauty of nature and with someone you can trust at difficult time. How many city bred kids enjoy this kind of environment. And even if they are lucky enough, how much time would we parents allow them to enjoy instead of asking them to mug up on class tests and homeworks.

just make sure hobbes isn’t around when you say the same thing to susie at 21.

Tigers are noble! (right, Neko Case?)

We all know that people that have animals live longer and they lower your blood pressure. I don’t know a nursing home in our area that doesn’t have a dog or cat there all or part of the time.

I want a friend like Hobbes!

I have a friend like Hobbes - except a person (sorry Calvin, but people really aren’t that bad! Shocker, huh?). My very best friend Allie is always cheering me up when I’m depressed over something…. well, most of the time it’s the other way around…. but still you get the idea :)
