In my day, a “booty” was a knitted baby shoe, and since Hobbes is holding a shoe, maybe that is the joke and Calvin doesn’t want to be reminded of his earlier years.

cleokaya, just to be pedantic (somebody has to be), the advantage of “booty” as traditionally defined is that once they had it, they could buy all the shapely wenches they wanted.

Presumably they called wenches carried off in the line of duty, something else.

(I will leave the possible puns of said rapine and pillaging with “duty” to others…)

Having to continuously flag spam in my favorite comic is a real bummer.

I don’t know. A while back, several of those posts started with something like, “We want to give you greatest and lasting satisfaction.”

I derived immense and lasting satisfaction every time I flagged them…

    To Ham Radio Operators

The Lost Island DX Society is sponsoring the first annual Talk Like A Pirate Radio-Sport Contest to coincide with the annual Talk Like A Pirate Day, September 19. While it sounds a little barmey in the crumpet, don’t be a knot-brained dabberlack and heave hearty! (A right and proper thankee to Randy K5ZD)
