Gotta be at least 18 before you’re allowed to see a wine list overhere. And despite his literal (literature) age, I don’t think the swish cat qualifies.
Dad, don’t you remember? It was all part of that new healthy living concept of that time. You take Mom out to a nice dinner and ignore any oddities from Calvin and you Live Healthy a bit longer. If not Mom makes sure that you regret the failure for a very long time.
“Good Evening, are you ready to order?”“Yes, thank you. I’ll have the T-Bone medium, my wife will have the Chicken Marsala, my son would like an order of Macaroni & Cheese and his pal will have the Tuna. Please leave the bones and head intact.”
That’s easy, Dad. Mom got tired of cooking and being cooped up taking care of Calvin all day. She wanted a taste of civiliization. I’m sure Calvin would have settled for McDonalds, though.
Ooh, Hobbes is lucky Calvin never shaved him — I don’t think his fur would grow back very quickly! But he is going to need another bath in the washing machine, to wash the cologne out…
I couldn’t get to a computer until Tuesday because the Senior Center was closed. This cartoon a great way to start the week. I noticed that Hobbes managed to get his tie done backwards, but that’s ok, maybe that’s de regeur with tigers. Besides, "ya gotta look uptown before you can go downtown…
Maybe in future Mom & Dad can take Hobbes to the restaurant and leave Calvin at home (with Roslyn babysitting of course). Hobbes is bound to be better behaved

My teddy used to get to come to dinner when I was Calvin’s age – even wore a tie a few times!

One of my favourites! And Calvin, for a change, is really motivated about taking a bath.

This is why I don’t frequent any establishment that allows patrons under 45.
