At one point, someone asked to sign my yearbook. My book disappeared for a little bit, and when I got it back, it had a bad word scrawled across the inside back cover. I now have a reminder of why I never will attend a class reunion.
I was a high school dropout so I did not have a yearbook. After getting a Bachelors degree and then an MBA I keep in touch with a few of the folks from college, but no yearbooks.
I got one every other year. Last week I had reason to pull one back off the shelf when a man who said we knew each other in middle school greeted me in the park. I didn’t recognize him at all, but his name sounded familiar. Boy did he look different from his 8th grade yearbook picture!
Got my soph and Senior yearbooks, that was back in 1969. Haven’t been to a reunion since Graduation. Almost went to the 40th, but went to my wife’s instead, because she wanted to show me off (can’t imagine WHY). I don’t think I really missed anything…
I don’t think my high school class ever held reunions. It’s forty-one years later, and I’m now in a distant part of the country. I know at least one of my classmates – and a good friend – is gone. I don’t know about anyone else from my class.
